Elon Misinforms
Regarding Twitterâs reduction in force, unfortunately there is no choice when the company is losing over $4M/day.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 4, 2022
Everyone exited was offered 3 months of severance, which is 50% more than legally required.
2-3 Months is actually required by law to make sure Twitter satisfied the WARN act in all jurisditions. Its also worth noting that not everyone got 3 months + severance, some got 2 + severance depending on their location of residence. This is not generous, it is the bare minimum required by law.
Additionally, the monetary numbers here were not true prior to Musk defaming the company he was trying to purchase for months before closing the deal. Had he not done so, twitter would be MAKING $5M per day, as per their SEC filing here.
Musk Bans Parody Accounts

Elon Learns
The slow part (last hop) is a single API request plus CDN, and the backend in general is not the slow part regardless of batching. This pattern is well established with other similar services such as Facebook. DNS, time-to-first-byte, and payload size are the most important.
